Instruction Philosophy
The SLTATC utilizes an innovative concept in instruction delivery—Open Entry / Open Exit. It does not operate on a traditional semester calendar. Our open-entry, open-exit enrollment approach allows students to enter as openings occur. Students enter a program with the goal of obtaining a marketable skill, taking only the courses that lead to that goal; furthermore, students progress at their own pace in a defined period through our classes, taking as much time as they need to master different skills. The instructor role is to be available to demonstrate and pass off skills and assist students individually as they work independently on any number of academic tasks. Instructors mentor and tutor students and rarely ever lecture to an entire class of students.
