Medical Biller - Patient Financial Service Rep

Overview : Banner Health, Arizona's largest healthcare provider, has a full time opening for a Patient Financial Services Representative.

Responsibilities :

The primary purpose of this position is to coordinate and facilitate all billing and collection activities (including electronic and hard copy billing) by following the patient's account through the billing process to the payor, working with the payor through claims processing to accurate reimbursement for the facility. This position also participates in hiring and training staff members. This position serves as a primary resource in complex and/or sensitive cases and may be assigned to work in any position in the department based on the departmental need.

Qualifications :

Requires one years previous billing and account follow up experience, including electronic billing. Excellent organization, customer services and critical thinking skills. The incumbent should have basic knowledge of general insurance laws and guidelines, insurance coverages, hospital billing procedures and payment policies; also Medicare and AHCCCS laws and regulations on billing. Requires basic knowledge of insurance contract language. This incumbent should have the ability to evaluate payor remits for accuracy according to payor guidelines. Demonstrates a proficiency in reviewing accounts, EOB's and identifying specific payor requirements. Consistently exceeds department expectations for Patient Account representative regarding customer service, aging and accuracy on accounts. 20 hours of job related education (including in-house training.) Excellent organization and public relations skills. The ability to demonstrate leadership qualities is required. Must work independently with minimal supervision.

The incumbent should be familiar with computer applications, spreadsheets and PC usage, be able to learn, apply, adhere to and teach hospital legal documentation and all phases of billing procedures. The incumbent should have verbal and written communicate skills with the ability to exercise tact and diplomacy in dealing with the public.
