Legal Clerk I

Working under close supervision, Legal Clerk I is the entry/trainee level in the Legal Clerk series, which plays a supporting role in a primarily legal and customer service office. Employees in this class receive on-the-job training and are given instructions in the performance of routine duties related to legal terminology and procedures.  As requisite skills and knowledge are developed, greater independence and the full scope of responsibility are exercised.  Employees are expected to promote to Legal Clerk II after one year of satisfactory performance at the trainee level.  Position is first line contact for all customers needing service.  Position will be required to answer phones, type and prepare correspondence, data entry, call center activities, mail processing, and general support of legal and paralegal staff.
