The ideal candidate for this position will perform special events planning and implementation for Clerk & Comptroller employees. Under the direction of the Special Programs Manager, this position is also responsible for conducting or coordinating special projects and research. Position requires the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously. Candidate must have experience in meeting the needs of both internal and external customers with emphasis in quality service. Candidate must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills and have proven public speaking experience. Excellent organizational skills as well as project and time management skills are essential. Demonstrated proficiency with internet research and Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint required.
SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
•Coordinates and organizes special events (i.e., Best Practices Showcase, South Florida Fair, Volunteer Recognition) including scheduling of employees and volunteers
•Develops and manages event budget
•Works with Communications staff to create event materials and press information
•Plans, manages, and schedules event committee meetings
•Develops and maintains event documentation such as events calendar, logistics, meeting minutes and expenses.
•Develops and maintains relationships with event vendors
•Assists with the development of employee newsletter, including committee participation
Minimum Requirements:
•Bachelor’s degree in Leisure Services, Communications, Parks & Recreation or related field: supplemented by two (2) years progressively responsible special event leadership experience; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
•The successful candidate must possess a valid Florida Driver’s license, with a clean driving record for two (2) years.
•This position involves moderately physically demanding work, typically involving some combination of stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling, and that may involve the lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling of moderately heavy objects and materials (20-50 pounds).
•The ability to work evening and weekend hours is required for this position.
