Arabic Translator for Fort Irwin, California

Provide operational Arabic language support to U.S. Army linguist operations in Fort Irwin, California. Linguistic role playing support for military operations. Interpret and translate written and spoken communications. Linguists will do role playing depicting Middle East cultures to provide training to the U.S Army troops. Linguist-role players must possess a high degree of familiarity with the Arabic language (IRAQI dialect), culture, history, religion and customs. Linguists will work in a mixed military and civilian environment and shall ascribe to US Army regulations in  Ft Irwin, CA and NTC Standardard Operating Procedures, regulations, courtesies and regulations. Transcribe and analyze verbal communications.Identify and extract information components meeting military information requirement list criteria. Provide input to reports.

An excellent command of Arabic (IRAQI DIALECT - DG) as well as strong verbal and written American English skills (grammar, vocabulary, idiomatic expressions, and spelling); linguist work products are prepared in English. A 3/3 Modern Arabic in listening/reading comprehension rating, according to the ILR scale and as measured by the DLPT or comparable language test vehicle, is required. 3+/3+ Arabic ( IRAQI DIALECT)  rating.

Must be a U.S Citizen or be a Permanent Citizen of the United States. Must be willing to travel/deploy/work in Ft Irwin, California. Familiarity with and ability to conduct oneself in accordance with the local culture and customs. Willingness to work shifts and extended hours in support of 24 x 7 Operations.

A thorough knowledge of cultural, economic, geopolitical, and military issues of the area and surrounding region. Previous operational experience as linguist in support of government operations.
