JOB PURPOSE:

Responsible for calculating, monitoring and distributing reports on Hospital Share Risk pools on a monthly, quarterly and annual basis. Assists Finance Department with other projects and reports on medical cost or claims data. Assists in the implementation, testing and documentation of new Capitation and A/R modules.

ESSENTIAL JOB RESULTS:

Builds and maintains financial models used to calculate hospital shared risk pools for contracted provider groups on a quarterly and annual basis. Documents methods, data sources and calculations. Develops recommendations for process improvement to increase overall productivity within the Finance Department.
Assists Manager in maintaining and managing accruals for IBNR and hospital shared risk pools on a monthly basis.
Interprets contractual information as it relates to hospital shared risk pools calculations and makes recommendations to Management regarding calculation methodologies and procedures.
Provides hospital shared risk pool calculations on a quarterly and annual basis to meet contractual agreements with contracted groups and to meet DMHC reporting requirements on financial solvency as mandated by California SB 260.
Ensures compliance with contractual agreements and internal policies and procedures by examining data, reports and accounting calculations.
Provides forecasts on potential hospital shared risk pools payments by analyzing data and identifying trends.
Prepares ad hoc reports or analysis on shared risk pools, claims or other medical cost activity by collecting, analyzing and summarizing data and financial information.
Assists Manager with meeting external audit requirements by providing schedules, financial data and other information as required.
Assists Manager with capitation payment and A/R processes as required. Prepares and maintains ad hoc reports supporting the accurate and timely reporting of journal entries. Provide support documenting policies and procedures within the Finance Department.
Assists the Finance Department with the setup, testing and documentation of the new computer system capitation and A/R modules. Provide technical support to multiple levels of users within the Finance department. Assists with other tasks as required.

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS:

BA/BS in accounting, finance or related field required. MBA or CPA a plus.
4+ years of relevant experience, HMO or provider group experience strongly preferred.
Proficient in spreadsheet and database management tools required including advanced knowledge of Excel and Access.
Superior analytical abilities. Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Able to identify issues and resolve problems.
. Must have the ability to work under tight deadlines, manage multiple responsibilities, tasks and work independently with minimal supervision.
