Materials Mgmt Supv

Overview : Supervises all operational, technical, and personnel activities associated with central supply inventory, customer service, equipment, training, and decontamination/transporting functions to assure optimal inventory levels and timely delivery of supplies and equipment to both nursing and non-nursing units within the hospital. Service Excellence and Banner Health Values are exhibited in all aspects of this job at all times by consistently modeling the BHA Service and Behavior Standards to all customers and contacts.

Responsibilities :

1. Supervises operations of ordering, shipping, and receiving functions for central supply by assessing daily workload and issuing directives and assignments to staff ensuring proper handling and timely delivery of all supplies ordered and received. Maintains 99% fill rate for central supply, adheres to pre-set stockroom standards, and provides accurate and timely information generated by the computerized inventory control system through continual updating, inquiry, monitoring, and taking corrective action to resolve discrepancies.
2. Supervises the patient supply/equipment requisition process through the customer service desk to include; filling all requisitions in a timely manner, entering deliveries into a database, reporting results, and maintaining appropriate and accurate record keeping for all Customer Service Desk functionality.
3. Oversees the equipment management process to include: logging, charging, and tracking of all mobile patient care equipment controlled by Materials Management, controlling rental equipment, and ensuring functional and available equipment to satisfy the needs through the equipment requisition process.
4. Responsible for supervising the retrieval, decontamination, inspection, assembling, and logging procedures for equipment used on the nursing floors.
5. Maintains a competent and motivated staff through appropriate selection, scheduling, training, disciplining, communicating, providing feedback, and termination of subordinate personnel as necessary.
6. Provides accurate and timely information for departmental budget.
7. Interacts frequently with department managers, supervisor, physicians, nurses, other staff members, patients and/or visitors regarding ordering, shipping, and receiving issues and related needs and opportunities. Interacts and communicates with counterparts at other BHA facilities.
8. Makes recommendations, devises, implements, and enforces department policies and procedures in conjunction with fellow Supervisors, System Support Administrator, Manager, and/or Director. Ensures staff compliance with all hospital safety, OSHA, and other regulatory guidelines.
Follows safety standards in all aspects of performance of the above functions, reports/removes unsafe equipment and attends safety education sessions.

Qualifications :

Prefers a Bachelor's degree in a related discipline or a minimum of three years of computerized inventory management, shipping and receiving functions. One year experience in a lead capacity preferred. Effective organizational, communication, and human relations skills are necessary as the incumbent will be coordinating several projects simultaneously and working closely with department managers and all levels of staff. Intermediate word processing, spreadsheet and/or database software skills. The ability to research and compile statistical reports is also essential. Must possess valid Arizona driver's license and excellent driving record.
