Permitting Specialist

Logan Simpson Design Inc. is aggressively seeking an entry-level Section 402/404 Permitting Specialist for immediate opening in our Tempe office.  The selected individual must work well with others and be dependable, highly organized, and detail-oriented.  Salary DOE.

 

Main Purpose:

To assist in applying regulations and governmental guidelines for the preparation of Jurisdictional Delineations and Section 402 and 404 permit applications, plus other natural, social, and cultural resource planning studies as needed.

 

Essential Duties:

These duties may vary depending on job assignment and firm needs.    

•  Assists in preparing Section 402 and 404 Permit applications and coordinate associated studies and reports.

•  Assists in preparing or coordinating Jurisdictional Delineation or SWPPP maps utilizing ArcView (v9.x) and AutoCad, or MicroStation.

•  Assists in conducting field determinations to identify jurisdictional areas on project sites or areas.

•  Demonstrates basic knowledge of the Clean Water Act, including appropriate regulations and their application related to Section 401, 404, Nationwide Permit Program, mapping land use, and related jurisdictional issues.

•  Demonstrates competent research skills to obtain background information from various sources, including agency contacts or clients.

•  Maintains and updates project files properly and in a timely manner.

•  Prepares project descriptions at close of project, as assigned.

•  Assists in information management (such as library reference material).

 

Education/Experience Requirements:

• Must have a Bachelor of Science or Arts degree in Biology, Planning, Anthropology, Engineering, Landscape Architecture, or Environmental Studies or closely related field with zero to three years of experience.

•  Competent technical writing and verbal communication, and public speaking skills.

•  Working knowledge of ArcView (v9.x), AutoCad, or MicroStation is preferred.

• Demonstrates competent knowledge of MS Office software.

 



Physical Demand:           



•  Must be able to lift minimum of 25 lbs.

•  Must be able to work and hike in extreme temperatures, on steep, rocky, uneven terrain.

•  Must be able to communicate clearly.

•  Must have a valid Arizona driver’s license and a vehicle for local travel, as requested.
