P4339 - CO/VRO - ENVIRONMENTAL SPECIALIST II (Water Supply Planner)

ENVIRONMENTAL SPECIALIST II (Water Supply Planner), #P4339; Harrisonburg, VA; Minimum Starting Salary:  $39,384 (effective 11/25/06).  The Department of Environmental Quality, Division of Water Resource, Office of Water Supply Planning, seeks a qualified candidate to manage the regional implementation of the local & regional Water Supply Planning Program.  The position will provide technical assistance & grant management services to its respective localities, water service authorities, & planning district commissions, & collect information on the quantity of water withdrawals reported throughout Virginia.

 

Qualifications include considerable knowledge of environmental or comprehensive planning, water resource development project principles & practices; state & federal environmental water laws, regulations, & policies; principles of program planning & evaluation; & project & grant management.  Demonstrated ability in PC & database operations & ability to interpret, analyze, & evaluate complex environmental issues, apply environmental principles, & make decisions.  Must possess excellent communication skills, orally & in writing, with all levels of management, the public, & local government staff.  Degree in planning, environmental or civil engineering, natural science or equivalent training/experience preferred.  The Commonwealth does not provide sponsorship; therefore, applicants must be a citizen or national of the U.S., a Lawful Permanent Resident, or an alien authorized to work.  Excluding current DEQ employees, the selected candidate MUST pass a criminal background check.
