Environmental Planner
Mid to Senior Level Environmental Planner/Staff Level
This mid to senior level professional will work with Senior Leadership to manage or assist with managing environmental planning projects, expand existing and new client relationships, and contribute to AMEC’s stature in the environmental-engineering marketplace.
Accountabilities:
The candidate will report to the Environmental Planning Group Manager with the responsibility of providing expertise and leadership on simple to highly complex environmental projects and programs.
Business Development:
He/she will develop new client relationships and expand existing AMEC client relationships by leveraging and expanding AMEC brand name awareness.
Establish and maintain client relationships and develop business leads and work opportunities in cooperation with local business development managers.
Identify, develop, and secure business opportunities by participating in proposals and marketing activities.
Technical:
Collect, compile and present data for review by peers and clients.
Perform work involving NEPA/SEPA regulatory compliance (EA’s/EIS’s), permitting, Endangered Species Act compliance, National Historic Preservation Act compliance, site characterization and impact analysis, and other environmental remediation and geotechnical related analyses.
Apply expertise and experience related to public and private sector projects for multiple business sectors related to transportation; water resources; residential, commercial, and industrial development; energy and utilities; public ports.
Provide support to marketing/proposal efforts and, at times, serve as proposal manager.
Manage simple to highly complex projects involving multiple disciplines.
Develop and implement project delivery strategies including planning, organization, scheduling, and cost control measures.
Convey results and findings by means of oral discussions, presentations and documentation.
Other:
Responsible for the development and management of project budgets.
Motivate, mentor, and support junior-level professional staff.
Provide technical direction and strategy for clients/projects.
Responsible for analyzing project objectives and desired outcomes and for developing cost effective task plans to complete work on time and within budget.
Accountable for client satisfaction in assigned area and for the maintenance and renewal of business opportunities.
Knowledge:
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Environmental Science, Land Use Planning, Natural Resource Management, or related field (MS preferred).
Minimum 5 years (mid level candidate) to 12 years (senior level candidate) of experience in the management of projects, technical teams, business development, and client relationships.
Proven experience in reactive and proactive marketing
Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work in a team environment.
Excellent oral and written English communication skills.
Ability to work efficiently and demonstrate effective organizational skills.
In-depth knowledge of environmental/engineering principles and standards.
In-depth knowledge of technical speciality area with a unique understanding of related disciplines, principles and proactive solutions to complex problems.
Proficiency with MS Office: Excel and Word.
