ENVIRONMENTAL SPECIALIST II (Ground Water Permit Writer), #P4334; Virginia Beach, VA; Minimum Salary Starting At: $37,869.
Join Virginia's team of ground water protection professionals. The Department of Environmental Quality, Tidewater Regional Office is seeking a qualified applicant to review and process ground water withdrawal permit applications to protect the ground water resource. This position evaluates justifications for ground water use, water well construction, aquifer testing protocols, and other information; provides technical and procedural assistance to applicants and others; develops permit conditions to protect the resource; tracks permit compliance; and takes appropriate actions to achieve compliance. Demonstrated knowledge, skills, and/or abilities in hydrogeology of the Virginia Coastal Plain; ground water (gw) computer modeling; gw monitoring; gw supply systems planning, development, or operations; chemistry; environmental regulations interpretation; PC/database operations; and ability to communicated verbally and in writing. College degree in science or engineering related to ground water analysis preferred.
