City of Bakersfield - Fire Prevention/Environmental Services Director

The rapidly growing City of Bakersfield is a full-service city located at the southern tip of the San Joaquin valley, which allows access to many educational and recreational opportunities from the Kern River to the Sequoia National Park and the Pacific Coastline. The area also has one of California’s most affordable housing markets. The City is seeking a new Environmental Services Director.

The new Director of Fire Prevention/Environmental Services will plan, administer and oversee the operations of the Fire Prevention/Environmental Services Division for the Fire Department, including the Certified Unified Program Agency (CUPA). The minimum qualifications for this position include four years of increasingly responsible experience in fire prevention or environmental program administration; and a BA/BS in Chemistry, Engineering, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Science, or a related field. Completion of the training requirements related to Regulatory Investigative Techniques (Title 27 of California Code of Regulations) is also required.
