Air Quality Specialist

JOB TITLE: Scientist, Sr (Air Quality Specialist)

 

PROJECT OVERVIEW: PARSONS, one of the world's leading engineering and transportation firms, has immediate openings for Air Quality Specialist for Fresno, California.

 

POSITION OVERVIEW: Independently performs a wide variety of more difficult and complex environmental sampling and data collection tasks.  Compiles and computes a variety of data.  May analyze test data, develop or prepare descriptive charts, figures, or matrices; test specifications; or make recommendations regarding these items.  The Scientist at this level is a qualified professional, proficient in utilizing most of the relevant theories and practices of the discipline.  Assignments may involve the application of computer models and require an in-depth knowledge of regulatory requirements and control strategies relevant to their technical areas.  Willingness to travel and/or relocate to field sites is expected.

 

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES: Performs a variety of field and office tasks requiring the application of complex scientific principles and fundamental theories.

 

Job responsibilities may include preparing air emission inventories, dispersion modeling, air quality impact analyses, permit applications, BACT/MACT analyses; evaluating regulatory compliance, database input and management, and preparing reports. 

 

Experience in traffic and transit project air quality analyzing and preparing studies for NEPA and QEQA documents is required. 

 

Experience with Caltrans projects is highly desirable. 

 

Prepares technical data assessments and interpretations.

 

PREFERRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: Qualified candidates should possess BS or MS in engineering, physical sciences, or equivalent degree plus a minimum of 5 to 10 years of related experience.

 

SKILLS/COMPETENCIES: Proficiency in various computer software applications typically used within the assigned discipline is required (i.e.MS Word, Excel, CALINE4, Cal3QDHC, and Emfac2000 computer models). 

 

Also requires a demonstrated proficiency in both written and oral communication skills and a thorough understanding of all environmental rules and regulations.
