Patent Engineer- Diagnostic Imaging

CITY: Waukesha STATE: Wisconsin COUNTRY: USA Essential Functions (Responsibilities):
GE Healthcare (GEHC) has an open position for an Patent Engineer reporting to Sr. IP Counsel. The Patent Engineer will need to develop a solid working knowledge of GEHC Technologies DI products and patents, and will be responsible for the following:
*Reviewing all new product releases to ensure compliance with Policy 30.10, i.e., that GE's new products do not infringe the valid IP rights of others.
*Work with GEHC engineers to discover and investigate third party patents that might be relevant to GE's new product designs and, where necessary to design around or license such third party IP.
*Work with GEHC engineers to conduct defensive IP reviews to assess potential risks.
*Support new patent filing activity, as needed, and work with Sr. IP Procurement Counsel on strategies for creating IP that will facilitate future licensing and enforcement activities.

Qualifications/Requirements:
*The successful candidate must have a technical degree, preferably in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, computer science, physics or equivalent.
*A broad range of engineering experience, including a minimum of three (3) years work experience.
*Preferably have a good technical understanding of medical imaging products and the ability to quickly understand how such products work.
*Experience working with multi-national technology teams with diverse skill sets to understand complex innovations, investigate potential infringements, and conduct defensive reviews.
*A self-starter able to work on own initiative and well in a team environment.
*Outstanding oral and written communication skills
*Ability to understand technical documents
*Strong organizational skills with the ability to quickly identify and prioritize issues and create solutions
