Description: Nuclear Engineer Sr PWR Core Analysis Engineer in the Nuclear Fuel Department of Southern Nuclear Operating Company.

Summary of Position Duties

Design and analysis work is performed using vendor-supplied steady state and transient analysis methods. The responsibilities of a PWR Core Analysis Engineer include: Nuclear fuel and core design, core follow, operational, support, reload licensing Transient and accident analysis Technical project management and oversight of nuclear fuel vendor's fuel/core design analysis and licensing support

Education Requirements

BS, MS, or PhD in Nuclear Engineering

Experience Requirements

3-10 years of experience in nuclear and thermal-hydraulic engineering analysis

E xperience with Westinghouse or Studsvik nuclear methods is required.(APA or CASMO/SIMULATE.
*
Experience with PWR core design is required.
*
Experience in Nuclear Plant System Transient and accident analysis is desirable.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

*
Knowledge of reactor physics and of fuel and core design analysis methods is required.
*
Ability to comprehend complex reactor physics/design problems and provide solutions is required.
*
A high level of written and verbal communications skills is required.
*
Strong interpersonal skills are required.
*
PWR core design experience is required.
*
Knowledge of Westinghouse (APA) or Studsvik (CASMO/SIMULATE) nuclear methods is required.
*
Knowledge of Nuclear Plant System Transient and accident analysis is desirable.
*
Knowledge of thermal hydraulics is desirable.
*
Knowledge of core monitoring analysis methods and hardware systems is desirable.
*
Working knowledge in use of engineering work stations is desirable.
*
Requires ability to communicate precise technical recommendations, issues, etc., to others at the corporate office, nuclear plant sites, and nuclear fuel vendor.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Technical support of nuclear fuel commercial decisions for PWR units
