Manufacturing Engineer

Position Summary:   Performs a variety of engineering assignments in developing and implementing production/processing methods and controls to meet quality standards in the most cost efficient manner.

 

Description of Major Duties:

 

·  Establishes and maintains standards for the department

·  Investigates and resolves work-in process problems

·  Recommends and implements improvements and/or modifications in sequence of operations, equipment utilization, and related matters.

·  Monitors assigned operations to assure compliance with approved methods and quality standards

·  Reviews proposals of outside vendors regarding the purchase of new or modernization of existing production/processing equipment

·  Confers with research and other engineers to clarify and resolve problems; prepare design modifications, as appropriate; and make recommendations to changes in procedures, design, or equipment where necessary

·  Prepares product or system layout and detailed drawings and schematics

·  Analyzes data to determine feasibility of product proposal

·  Evaluates engineering test results for possible application to development of systems or other uses

·  Analysis and support for effective utilization of related production facilities

·  Planning and implementation of projects related to equipment, layouts, workflow, accident prevention and efficiency

·  Support of the department Group Leader and Working Team Lead related to training and staffing plans for the department 

·  Works with suppliers and vendors to assure excellent quality and delivery

·  Assist with the quality monitoring, the development of corrective action plans and their implementation within the plant

 

Minimum Educational Requirements: Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Industrial Technology, or Technical Field.

 

Additional Qualifications:

·  2-5 years of professional engineering experience in a manufacturing environment.

·  Auto CAD experience

·  Competent Computer Skills to include Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point, Access, and Microsoft Project

·  CNC Programming Experience – Preferably Woodwop and/or Alphacam

·  Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing Principles helpful

·  Experience participating and leading RCI events.

·  ISO-9000 knowledge helpful

·  Ability to communicate effectively at all levels of the organization

·  Strong presentation skills

·  Strong analytical and problem solving skills

·  Proven ability to lead change and multi-task in a fast paced environment
