Position: Harley-Davidson On-Site Liaison Engineer

Location: Harley-Davidson Facility, Milwaukee, WI

SUMMARY

Acts as technical design liaison between SPX and Harley-Davidson (HD) for the development of the Digital Technician and Digital Engineer product lines, as well as supporting related products and supporting other business opportunities as requested.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS) Other duties may be assigned.
Attends HD product meetings and presents SPX requirements as related to project timelines and features.
Chairs SPX meetings within the HD organization, to include HD suppliers, and acquires necessary technical and schedule information to support SPX developments.
Establishes and maintains a close working and personal relationship with assigned HD customers so that they are aware of and comfortable relying upon SPX’s capabilities and resources.
Interfaces with product designers to ensure customer design needs are met. Strives to continuously improve quality of customers’ interface.
Educates, informs and enhances SPX image and perception to the HD account.
Maintains effective communication with HD, SPX Development Engineering Team and SPX Business Team to ensure all necessary information is available and current.
Maintains an awareness of current market trends and HD strategic plans and initiatives in order to provide the Business Team with accurate and timely information for new business opportunities.

QUALIFICATIONS

Self-starter, high initiative and integrity.
Able to create oral and written status reports which clearly present data and abstract information as appropriate to the level of management receiving reports.
Strong knowledge of embedded processors and protocols, i.e., SAE standards, J1708, J1850, CAN
Knowledge of complex electronic systems life cycle processes.
Project Management skills with knowledge of Gantt charts and Critical Path Planning.
Working knowledge of C, C++, Visual Basic, database structures.
General PC skills: Word, Excel, Power Point

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s degree in electrical/electronics engineering, computer science, or other related field.
5+ years of experience in embedded hardware/software design or experience providing similar knowledge
2+ years of experience maintaining working relationships with internal and external customers or demonstrated skills at maintaining relationships among parties of dissimilar interests.
