Southern Research Institute is a diversified network of collaborative centers for scientific discovery and technology development, recognized for more than 60 years of achievement for public and private sector clients in the pharmaceutical sciences, automotive, engineering, and environment and energy industries.

The Engineering Division is developing new, low-cost processes to produce carbon/carbon and polymer matrix composite materials and aerogels (ultra-light foam), as well as processing methods to fabricate these materials for a wide variety of applications from automotive and recreational products to the most advanced aerospace applications.



Our Systems Development Department develops unique image analysis algorithms and systems, including tracking instrumentation, for military and commercial applications, designs and builds special airborne instrumentation systems, and develops precision stabilized platforms and other electro-mechanical systems for a wide variety of applications.

Cryogenics Lab Manager

 

Currently, Southern Research is seeking to fill an urgent need for a Cryogenics Group Manager. This Senior-Level position will lead the Cryogenic Materials Characterization Group at the Engineering Research Center of Southern Research Institute.

Areas of Responsibilities:
  New Business Development
  Primary Customer Interface
  Program Development and Management
  Laboratory Design and Management
  Test Design
  Profit and Loss
  Mentoring and Recruiting



Preferred Experience, Education and Skills:

  MS or PhD in Mechanical, Materials, or Aerospace Engineering
  Materials characterization and evaluation focused on advanced composite materials in cryogenic environments
  Excellent written and verbal communication skills,
  Strong background in mechanics of materials, thermodynamics and heat transfer, machine design, as well as a history of successful program management
