Founded in 1985, Cooper Power Systems (CPS), with its combination of McGraw-Edison, Kyle, RTE and Kearney product lines, provides an unequaled array of products for substation, overhead, underground and in-plant medium voltage distribution systems. Their products include transformers, capacitors, voltage regulators, reclosers and sectionalizers, distribution switchgear, transformer fluids, distribution automation equipment, transformer components, components and protective equipment. Electric utility companies in bringing electric power to homes, industries, businesses, and institutions throughout the world use these products. Due to the market demand, Cooper Power Systems is looking to add a Capacitor Development Project Leader to their Franksville, WI team located 15 minutes from Milwaukee.
The responsibilities of the Capacitor Development Project Leader include, but are not limited to:
Lead direction of capacitor development efforts.Work closely with product line staff to define project objectives in order to meet the company strategy and goals.Supervise staff dedicated to capacitor development efforts.Upgrade capacitor lab capabilities through testing and data acquisition automation.Investigate, define, and recommend product and/or process improvement initiatives related to the use of dielectric materials.Define and manage related project resource requirements (cost, staff, and schedule) as needed to meet project objectives. Work with other Materials Development Lab staff to apply analytical concepts and techniques to solve complex materials and product related problems. Work closely with staff and be directly involved with testing to assure timely completion of objectives.
The qualifications of the Capacitor Development Project Leader include, but are not limited to:BS degree in electrical engineering, materials science or appropriate discipline along with 6+ years of job-related experience in a materials/product development role. An MS degree with 4+ years of relevant experience is preferred. Experience in high voltage capacitor design and development is strongly preferred.Experience and formal training in polymers, dielectrics, and dielectric breakdown phenomenon.Experience in modeling electric fields and stresses and multi-stress aging is a plus. Knowledge and skills in applying various standard and advanced electrical, physical and chemical investigations and test methods.Computer literacy and proficiency in use of Microsoft Office tools. Lab automation experience is a plus.Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal skills are very important.
