Position Description:
Chevron Global Downstream Refining is accepting online applications for the position of Shift Supervisor (0610-50164659) located in El Segundo, California through October 20, 2006.
POSITION DESCRIPTION:
Supervisor, on shift, exercising proprietary responsibility in coordinating, directing, and executing all operations in assigned division. Responsible for maintenance and repairs, personnel functions, cost control, safety and fire prevention, compliance with all applicable environmental regulations, the enforcement of operating standards, company policies and refinery rules.
Qualifications:
ESSENTIAL POSITION FUNCTIONS:
- Supervises, coordinates, and directs activities of assigned units, facilities, and/or related equipment on shift in accordance with operating plans and instructions.
- Takes action in unusual or emergency situations to correct adverse conditions, immediately advises others who will be affected and the Supervisor concerned.
- Supervises the removal of equipment from service and its preparation and cleanup for maintenance work. Checks to be sure the environment is safe and hazards are minimized. Checks equipment for satisfactory work completion and supervises the return of equipment to service.
- Directs crew in carrying out a continuous program of servicing and preventative maintenance throughout his area by enforcement of lubrication schedules, following good housekeeping practices, making minor corrective adjustments to equipment and machinery, etc.
- Assures the economical use of utilities, materials, tools, operating services and supplies and minimizes the losses to the drains, flare stacks, and atmosphere. Recommends process improvements that will lead to lower costs, greater profitability, better productivity, and higher throughput.
- Explains and enforces all management approved rules, standards, procedures, governmental requirements, and Company policies to assigned personnel to ensure operators are following these consistently and completely.
- Evaluates operator performance, counsels operators as necessary, establishes performance improvement planning objectives. Responsible for and actively participates in the training of assigned personnel. Administers time keeping and lost time programs.
- Enforces all safety and fire prevention rules, ensures that equipment is operated properly and safely. Reports any unsafe or hazardous condition and initiates corrective action. Investigates operating upsets and mishaps and prepares appropriate reports.
- Conducts special studies as assigned; assists Technical staff with field studies, test runs, etc. Supports updating of operating standards, emergency procedures, etc. Performs special assignments such as plant shutdowns and capital projects.
SPECIAL SKILLS/REQUIREMENTS OR ADDITIONAL CONSIDERATIONS/INFORMATION:
- High School Diploma/equivalent required.

- This is a safety sensitive Position.
- 12 Hour rotating shifts.
- Annual Salary Range: $68,600 - $85,800

- Candidate must have demonstrated leadership by working HO position (relief basis acceptable), have other equivalent leadership experience (i.e., shutdown coordinator, trainer, project team, etc.), or demonstrated leadership in current assignment.

- Must have excellent record. No recordable injuries in the previous two years and no more than one recordable injury in the previous 5 years. Demonstrated support and participation in the CSE process.
- Demonstrated follow-through on job assignments. Must have excellent attendance record.
