Recent success and growth in geophysical activities within BP Alaska has resulted in an increase in demand for a Geophysical specialist.  As a member of the Geophysical community within BP, the Seismic Acquisition Geophysicist will have the opportunity to work within high-performing integrated teams in a dynamic and diverse environment where creativity and innovations are fostered and encouraged.  This position will have the opportunity to work on a range of land and marine seismic acquisition projects in geographically diverse locations.  The incumbent will also have the added benefit of being involved in the application of leading edge technologies where BP has a distinct advantage, including wide and multi-azimuth acquisition using towed streamer and ocean bottom survey methods and the installation and operation of Life of Field Seismic solutions for reservoir surveillance. 


Working as part of the BP Subsurface community, the Seismic Acquisition Geophysicist will develop and interact with a global network of technical staff and be exposed to state of the art tools, methodologies and technologies.  This role will be expected to take responsibility for all aspects of seismic data acquisition, including survey design, scopes of work and technical specifications, tender package preparation, contractor selection and supervision of field operations while committing to the achievement of the highest standards of Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) performance.


Accountabilities Include:

Provide technical consultancy to the Alaska Assets in seismic acquisition techniques.
Provide survey design and project planning.
Coordinate preparation of scopes of work and technical specifications.
Support Supply Chain Management Specialists in the tender invitation and bid evaluation process.
Provide detailed project planning, risk assessment and resource planning for all operational and HSE aspects of the work.
Ensure quality assurance of contractor led field operations.
Participate actively in the appropriate technical networks and research and development programs.
Coordinate with other operation groups within BP for effective simultaneous operations.


Required Qualifications:
To be considered for the role of Seismic Acquisition Geophysicist applicants must have:

Legal authorization to work in the US on a full-time basis for anyone other than your current employer.
A minimum of a Bachelors Degree in Geosciences, Physics, or Mathematics related Engineering discipline.
A willingness and ability to travel up to 10% of the time in order to fulfill the responsibilities of this position.
Relevant industry experience in planning and/or operations of land and marine geophysical activities.
A good working knowledge of acquisition and navigation systems.
Strong communication and people skills.


Preferred Qualifications:
In addition to the required qualifications the successful candidate is likely to be able to demonstrate:

A minimum of 2 years of experience in arctic acquisition, transition zone acquisition and/or designing surveys.
