Shell Oil Products US is currently seeking a Pressure Equipment Engineer for its refinery in Los Angeles, California.
Responsibilities:
In this position, you will be responsible for providing pressure equipment technical support for various units of the Shell Los Angeles Refinery.
Key Accountabilities Include:
- Acts as first level technical resource to Inspection group. Provides technical direction and problem solutions. When required, coordinates support from the Corrosion Engineer, Plant Engineering group and Shell Global Solutions
- Evaluate equipment design based on ASME BPV Code and Piping Code, along with API Tank Fabrication Code. Responsible for reviewing and specifying permanent and temporary repairs, calculation of renewal thicknesses and the assessment of remaining life for all tanks, pressure equipment and piping
- Assist in the development of turnaround scopes in conjunction with Unit Inspector and Corrosion Engineer
- Review vessel alterations and ensure compliance with all codes, and jurisdictional regulations, performs pipe stress analysis as needed and develops/reviews specifications for new equipment
- Evaluate equipment fitness for service based on inspection codes, including API-510, API-570, and API-653, in addition to API-579 Fitness for Service Evaluation. (Knowledge of Finite Element Evaluation preferred, but not required)
- Provide technical review of new projects and site plant changes from a pressure equipment standpoint as part of our Site Management of Change Procedure
- Mentor new Pressure Equipment inspectors
- Participate on various audits to ensure compliance with internal and external rules and regulations
- Review Inspection Procedures and Standing Instructions, as necessary, and make recommendations for updates as needs arise or as gaps are identified
- Review of assigned Pressure Equipment Alerts for equipment and code related issues - Provide leadership to the department and participate in plant wide and company wide teams as needed
Requirements:
To be considered for this position, you must possess a Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Engineering and have approximately 5 or more years of Pressure Equipment engineering experience within the oil or petrochemical industry. You will be knowledgeable in ASME Sec.VIII and supporting codes, B31.3, API Codes 510, 570, 653 and others related to inspection.
