Duties and Responsibilities:
The Meter Maintenance Technician position is the primary point of contact for meter maintenance in the Utility's service area. This Technician performs installations, maintenance and testing on energized electric and gas field Utility and Cellnet metering equipment. The Meter Maintenance Technician interacts with the Utility's customers (end users), and support teams.
Key responsibilities include:Investigate & troubleshoot energized electric & gas meter conditions Perform electric meter or gas module installations on energized equipment Residential gas module battery changesAntenna InstallationLink Assessment TestingPerform Walkup Reads and as stand in for Mobile Meter ReaderResidential Electric and Gas Emergency AssistContribute to Monthly Safety Meeting and adhere to all QHSE GuidelinesMaintain necessary safety equipment and stock of field work materialReport and correct all QHSE violationsMaintain vehicle safety by performing daily maintenance reviewParticipate in cross training with analysts, RF Technicians and Cross Dock Technicians
Core Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent. Preferred Trade school education in electric or gas. Basic understanding of gas and electric theory and metering. Ability to work independently and self motivated.Good communication and computer skills.Ability to reason and make decisions based on directions.Must be flexible with work schedules, i.e. Saturday work.Ability to work with tools, mechanical and manual and maintain company vehicle. Ability to respond to emergency situations.Must be able to maintain accurate records.Must be able to work on gas meters typically located close to ground level.Must be able to work on electric meters at various heights.Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license.Must be able to work wearing safety equipment.Must be able to work on ladders and in inclement weather.
