Position Description:

Chevron Project Resources Company (PRC) is accepting online applications for the position of a Engineering Manager- WC Bundled Projects (0610-50160558) located in the Los Angeles, California through October 16, 2006.

The Engineering Manager will be the lead person in the Contractor’s Engineering office where several projects in the $25- 300 MM$ range will be developed and executed. The Bundled Projects Initiative includes debottlenecking and/or expansion projects at the Richmond and El Segundo California refineries. Scope of the work includes phase 2B alternate estimates plus Project development and execution - including FEED, Detailed Design and Construction Management.


Qualifications:

ESSENTIAL POSITION FUNCTIONS:
- Planning and coordinating the design effort of multiple projects in the contractor’s engineering office.
- Communicating and resolving competing requests for prioritization of contractor’s manpower.
- Assuring the use of Best CVX procurement practices.
- Coordinating contracting strategy, bid preparation, and bid evaluation utilizing CVX in-house expertise.
- Assuring application of consistent Project Controls practices across each project.
- Coordinating objectives and expectations for implementation of all necessary Chevron Project Development and Execution Processes (CPDEP) and tools, including obtaining “Best Practical” FEL and a competitive Cost Index when benchmarking.
- Implementing an initiative to standardize on common Engineering standards and specifications for Richmond and El Segundo, where feasible.
- Supervising company personnel and setting direction for experienced contract personnel

SPECIAL SKILLS/REQUIREMENTS OR ADDITIONAL CONSIDERATIONS/INFORMATION:
- Bachelor’s degree required in Engineering Degree with minimum of 15-20 years project management experience.
- Relocation benefits will be considered.
- Expatriate Assignment will be considered.
- This is a safety sensitive Position.
- Project Management Training and/or certification (CSOC Regular and Supreme certification required for internal candidates).
- This assignment will be located in a Contractor’s design office in Southern California
- Anticipated to be a 24 month duration.

SELECTION CRITERIA:
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrates knowledge of successful project management practices.
- Knowledge of CPDEP and CSOC and how to apply these processes to achieve excellence.
- Ability to work in and foster a strong team environment with minimal supervision.
- Strong background in the design of refinery processes and the integration of those processes within an operating facility.
- A strong safety champion who will lead an office environment dedicated to zero injuries while laying the contractual foundation for a successful IIF program in the field.
- Detailed knowledge of Project Controls, including cost estimating, cost reporting and schedule preparation.
- Previous experience working with a major Engineering Contractor demonstrating ability to coordinate multiple projects in a contractor’s office.
