Cooper Power Systems, a division of Cooper Industries, has an immediate opening for a High Voltage & Vacuum Technology Development Engineer at our South Milwaukee, WI facility.  Cooper Power Systems is a diversified worldwide supplier of electrical distribution equipment.

Position Title: Development engineer - High Voltage & Vacuum Technology, Distribution Switchgear Engineering

Position Responsibilities:

 Team member to develop high voltage vacuum systems for a new generations of the Global Distribution Switchgear productsDrives creativity and innovation in development and implementation technology roadmaps and platforms to be incorporated into the multi generational switchgear product roadmapsAlways focus on custom delight – product reliability and life cycle costContinuously develops and grows technology skillsIdentifies risks and mitigation plans, and carries out changes to plan if necessary to ensure that targets are achieved Continuously seeks to improve and optimize quality and cost of the productsParticipates in quality and cost improvement projectsEffectively collaborates within engineering team and other cross functional teams

 

Position Qualifications:BS – Electrical Engineering, Material Science, Physics; MS is preferred, PhD is plus Specialization in Power Engineering is a plus Experience in engineering HV systems, vacuum components, and related technologiesStrong working knowledge of computer modeling and FEA, preferably experience with electrical or magnetic modelingKnowledge of power systems and / or industrial automation & controlsExcellence in analytical skillsBlack Belt certification or training is a plusWorking knowledge of design for manufacturability, reliability, and serviceability is a plusDemonstrated ability to work in cross functional environment is a plusDemonstrated excellence in communication and interpersonal skillsExperience operating successfully in matrix organization is a plus
