Position Description:
Chevron International Exploration & Production is accepting online applications for twenty-five (25) Drilling Engineer positions, located domestically and internationally [Anchorage, Houston, New Orleans, Bakersfield or other International locations] through December 31, 2006.
Drilling Engineer in Chevron's Drilling & Completion Functional group. Responsible for fit for purpose well designs, risk assessments and probabilistic cost estimating, along with capturing lessons learned and best practices (internal & external) for sharing with other members of the drilling & completion engineering community and inclusion into future programs. Keeping abreast of emerging new technologies and bringing them forth for incorporation into well design and operations is also a key component of this job. Scope of operations consists of
development and exploration/appraisal well drilling/testing with some positions requiring demonstrated deepwater well skill sets. Areas of operation are global with future assignments in US and international locations and dictated by business needs and individual employee desires.
A degree of mobility will be expected of the successful candidate and their family/dependents.

Qualifications:
Engineering positions include a mix of operations and staff support assignments. Typical activities include, but are not limited to, insuring accurate pore pressure/fracture gradient analyses are performed, well design, AFE costs, tubular and wellhead design including assistance with procurement, coordinating and insuring accuracy of directional well plans, drilling fluids design, shallow hazards and completion of reports and related duties. Works with exploration & appraisal well teams, and asset teams to insure geological and geophysical goals are realistically planned attainable. Works with respective rig contractors and third party service contractors as appropriate to achieve well design goals. Keeps up with latest technology applicable to well engineering and operations; assists with metrics measurement and application. Assists in training/mentoring younger employees.
- Demonstrated experience in well engineering, directional drilling, and time and cost estimating, writing of drilling programs.
- Works well with others in a mutli-functional team environment. Able to conduct oneself
professionally with partners and government representatives.
