Job Requirements:
--Bachelor’s degree
--Professional appearance
--Experience in education, coaching, counseling, teaching or training preferred
--Three to four years of work experience, in any field or role
--External sales experience or interest/desire
--Coaching, teaching, or training experience
--The ability to build relationships and work well in teams and groups
Necessary Skills:
--Excellent customer service skills
--Presentation and platform skills – is comfortable speaking and teaching to groups.
--Strong writing and oral communication skills
--Computer and internet proficient
CDS Graduate Advisor Job Description
--Build a relationship with each assigned graduating student and guide those students through the second part of their Westwood education, learning about the students’ goals, challenges, skills and experience.
--Offer students exposure to the business community.
--Help students and alumni build job search skills and help ensure the student is ready to start his/her career upon graduation.
Specific Responsibilities:
--Generate a relationship with each assigned graduating student midway through his/her Westwood Education.
--Offer students access to the business community, in the form of internships, mentorships, networking, and other career related opportunities.
--Partner with the Education and Student Services department to help students develop necessary career related skills and experience.
--Schedule, fill and facilitate workshops to hone students’ job search and career readiness skills.
--Coach students individually and in groups on creative job search skills, resume writing, interviewing techniques, professionalism and necessary business acumen.
--Generate and maintain relationships with employers who offer graduate employment positions so that we are aware of who is hiring and the process for attaining employment, and can make appropriate introductions for the students.
--Leverage relationships with employers to bring appropriate speakers on campus to address: retention, developing ones’ career, and getting the most out of one’s education and to generate internships, mentorships, etc.
--Maintain student files regularly and accurately.
