Director of Continuous Improvement

Job Position Overview:
The Director of Continuous Improvement provides cross-functional leadership to determine, design, drive and accomplish measurable business process improvements, through SAP configuration and otherwise.
Key Responsibilities:
Management
· Direct the activities of supervised functions in a coordinated fashion; establish responsibilities and time frames to help fulfill the annual Forward Plan and meet the requirements of the Quality Management System
· Establish and maintain appropriate systems for measuring progress; revise courses of action in accordance with results of such measurement and current conditions
· Prioritize activities and allocate resources, balancing the short-term interests and the long term interests
· Balance empowerment with control
· Participate in or lead cross functional teams to ensure the continuous, on‑going and cost effective improvement of customer satisfaction, processes, methods, productivity and quality
· Exercise sound business judgment in carrying out expenditures, which are authorized by the Financial Plan; and in deciding to make expenditures of $5,000 or less beyond amounts called for in the Financial Plan
· Ensure the completion and maintenance of all required paperwork, records and documentation
· Take action in a manner that integrates a general duty of care respecting compliance with IEWC Corporate’s Quality Management System, policies and procedures, the Employee Handbook, the Code of Conduct, health and safety requirements, environmental regulations and applicable legal requirements
· Continuous Improvement
- Lead, coach, train and manage continuous improvement initiatives throughout the Company.
- Build internal alliances with business stakeholders to promote the use of continuous improvement methodologies throughout the organization.
- Facilitate Continuous Improvement events, related meetings and training to ensure sustainability of projects and optimal outcomes.
- Promote use of Continuous Improvement tools to lead and drive large, complex organizational change and process improvement efforts.
· Project Management
- Utilize effective organizational change practices to achieve business objectives including project chartering, team leadership and project status reporting.
- Provide project management leadership to ensure creation and management of project timelines, critical path, resources and tracking and communication of financial and intangible benefits.
- Develop and share best practices for the implementation of projects.
· System Design and Configuration
- Execute and support scoping and estimation of proposed continuous improvement project changes
- Ensure continuous improvement projects fit SAP’s master data integrity, information flow processes, and architecture structure
- Manage the documentation and underlying configuration including customizing, functional/technical specifications, test scripts, and change control migration.
Human Resources
· Create a work environment where expectations, actions and work rules all ensure that safety is a fundamental component of Continuous Improvement Department activities.
· Provide human resource management - including the establishing of job descriptions, hiring, training and development, goal setting and evaluation, compensation and benefits, promotions, discipline and termination – to all Continuous Improvement Department employee-owners
· Establish an environment where all Continuous Improvement Department employee-owners are treated fairly and with dignity and respect, where they feel empowered to perform and grow, and where they are motivated to work as a team to meet the Department’s and IEWC Corporate’s annual Forward Plan.
· Demonstrate a commitment to personal development and growth; and a commitment to the development and growth of all employee-owners in the supervised functions
· Ensure the development of future leaders throughout the Continuous Improvement function
· Resolve conflicts and address complaints that arise among Continuous Improvement Department employee-owners
Planning
· Support the ongoing development of IEWC Corporate’s annual Forward Plan, particularly as it relates to Continuous Improvement matters
· Mobilize action from Continuous Improvement Department employee-owners to support the success of IEWC Corporate’s Strategic Pyramid and annual Forward Plan
· Continually monitor and assess trends affecting the Continuous Improvement aspects of IEWC Corporate; and benchmark IEWC Corporate against the best companies in the world
Requirements:
Education and/or Experience:
A bachelor's degree and 5 to 7 years of experience; or a combination of education and experience.
Must possess excellent Leadership skills. SAP software and knowledge of wire and cable a plus.
