Instructional Designer

KEY JOB FUNCTIONS: 

Designs and develops curriculum, writes and maintains web-based training, leader’s guides, participant workbooks, handouts, assessments and other components as required for the specific training need.

Develops curriculum and courses intended for a variety of delivery methods, including web-based, instructor-led, blended learning, video, print-based self-study, and computer based tutorials.  Converts portions of existing curriculum for web delivery.  Applies creativity and innovation to create learning experiences that engage and motivate the learner.  Conducts research on topics, processes, and performance requirements.  Identifies learning objectives in conjunction with stakeholders. Partners closely with subject matter experts to develop and update training materials and resources to meet business needs.Manages large, long-term, complex projects from beginning to end.

 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS/SKILLS/EXPERIENCE:

Ability to organize and prioritize work, and meet deadlines and established goals

Ability to handle multiple assignments simultaneously in a collaborative environment under aggressive timeframes

Ability to work effectively and with a high level of initiative both independently and as a member of a team

Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Strong editing and proofreading skills

Strong interpersonal skills, and ability to interact effectively with all levels of the organization

Appreciation for and ability to think in terms of both big picture vision and the details that support that vision

Strong conceptual and organizational skills, and the ability to break down complex concepts and processes into component parts to be trained

Strong commitment to quality of work and contribution to the organization

Strong MS Office skills, advanced Word skills

Bachelor’s degree in Instructional Design, Educational Technology, Communication or related field, or an equivalent combination of education and work experience

 

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:

Familiarity with basic graphics packages (Photoshop)

Familiarity with Learning Management Systems

Experience using various web development and authoring software

Two to five years experience in instructional design

Experience as a classroom trainer

Knowledge of automotive systems
