  Product Designer HISTORY OF ILLUMINATIONS:

We are a specialty retailer of high quality candles, candleholders, and home decor products. We offer products through our retail stores, catalog and Web site. Illuminations is intended to bring our customers the promise of relaxation, celebration, ritual and a lifestyle that evokes a sense of balance. JOB SUMMARY:

We are currently seeking a Product Designer who will have the ‘know-how’ to develop and package products to meet the needs of Illuminations’ customers.  You will have an exceptional background in art and design and work under the direction of the GMM and Founder.  You will stay ahead of fashion trends, and design to develop both our fashion forward and everyday core products for our stores, catalog, and online businesses.

Specifically:

 

·  Execute desgisn for Candlelight, home decor, and accesories.

·  Create and design fresh, innovative seasonal and core candlelight, home décor, and accessory products, including development.

·  Research and translate consumer needs and develop seasonal trends, themes, color, product drawings and specifications.

·  Ensure product designs will support design and merchandising assortment strategies, price points and overall creative direction.

·  Assist in the preparation for trend presentations.

·  Research and pull together materials to visually support and inspire design.

·  Apply understanding of design process, merchant business objectives and assortment plans to ensure consistency and drive financial results.

·  Communicate effectively to the Buying Team to ensure product execution according to design intent.

·  Ensure consistent formats across the Illuminations division.

· Develop and maintain brand Point-of-View and Point-of-Difference through collaboration with product development partners.

· Other duties as assigned.



 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

·  4-year degree in Illustration or related degree is preferred.

·  Minimum of 3-5 years of product development experience.

·  Proficient in Illustrator and Photoshop.

·  3-Dimensional design skill is a plus.

·  General business knowledge of the home décor industry.

· Demonstrated high taste level and creative ability.

·  Proven ability to research and apply market/trend information.

·  Proactive ‘thinker’ and ‘problem-solver.’

·  Excellent communication skills.
