Mattel, Inc. is seeking a Packaging Designer to join its Hot Wheels Packaging team! Packaging for Hot Wheels extends into all products related to the car market and we're looking for someone with strong market awareness coupled with super cool design skills and a strong enthusiastic of cars and related industries. We are seeking a hands on designer with hot, new ideas.

This individual will design and develop package concepts of all levels of complexity and will work directly with product design, marketing, engineering and costing to create targeted results. This role interfaces directly with all related departments as a partner and team leader to ensure projects progress on schedule and on budget.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE

' Hands 'on designing and coordinating the aesthetic look of the package including structure, graphics, copy, file building and releasing for print the final file.
' Delivering well thought-out strategic design solutions to complex marketing requirements which reflect the target market of Boys 5-12.
' Proven trend awareness 'including media, sports, music etc ' knowing what's 'cool'.
' Meeting schedules and anticipating potential obstacles to schedule in advance to ensure schedules are met.
' Meeting budgets and overcoming issues that may impact the budget.
' Managing multiple projects and or product segments simultaneously.
' Provides work direction to outside vendors and overseas partners.
' Ability to communicate both visually and verbally with all levels of the corporation.
' Maintains a comprehensive knowledge of the competition and trends.
' Ability to work cohesively in a team environment.
' Ability to lead and be led.

SPECIAL QUALIFICATIONS
' Proven knowledge of Hot Wheels target market (5-12) and trend awareness in music, media, sports etc.
' Must have the ability to work effectively in a fast paced, high energy creative environment.
' Strong drawing and layout skills.
' Proven expertise in designing trend forward logos and consumer goods packaging.
' Expert in color critical workflow (CCW).
' Proficiency with Mac platform. Expert in Photoshop and Illustrator programs and proficient in most Adobe software.


EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE NEEDED
BA in Design or related degree.
2-5 years experience in the Toy Industry or related field.
