Mechanical Sourcing Buyer

Job Description:
This position will be responsible for all aspects of mechanical part sourcing to reduce total supply chain costs. Duties include the following: Evaluate cost and lead cost negotiations for mechanical commodities and promote other cost reduction initiatives (VA/VE) supply base. Conduct supplier audits, evaluations and development activities to maintain a supply base of desirable suppliers. Participates in continuous improvement activities related to issues affecting overall supply chain.

The ideal candidate will posses: Established mechanical and tooling knowledge. Ability to use independent judgment and to manage and impart confidential information. Ability to collect and research data; synthesize complex or diverse information; use intuition and experience to complement data; design work flows and procedures; creative problem solving. Knowledge of cost analysis techniques. Strong negotiations skills. Ability to manage projects on time and within budget. Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community. Knowledge of contract law. Strategic thinking by analyzing market, competition, threats and opportunities Adapts strategy to changing conditions. Works with integrity and strong ethics Ability to use ERP/MRP systems and intermediate to advanced Excel skills. Bachelors degree from 4-year college or university; And/or 3-5 years of automotive sourcing experience that is directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified or equivalent combination of training, education and experience.
