Position Description:

Pittsburg & Midway Mining Company (P&M) is accepting online applications for the position of Supervisor Trainee (0608-50162659) located in Berry, Alabama through December 31, 2006.

To train on all areas of the mining environment; rotate throughout operations; completing required training program learning criteria, to include completion of forty hour miner training, first responder training and obtaining mine foreman papers by successfully completing Mine Foreman certification exam, with the end result being promotion to a Supervisory position in which the responsibility will be to plan, assign and direct work associated with the safe and efficient production of coal and maintenance of mining equipment; responsible for supervising a crew of up to 15 hourly employees at an underground coal mining operation. Enters production data into computer systems; supervises employee time and attendance and enters information into the computer systems.

Qualifications:

ESSENTIAL POSITION FUNCTIONS:
Progress through a training program in which trainee learns to plan, assign and direct work associated with the safe and efficient production of coal and maintenance of mining equipment. Learns to perform permissibility examinations of work areas and monitor compliance with MSHA regulations and company policies.

SPECIAL SKILLS/REQUIREMENTS OR ADDITIONAL CONSIDERATIONS/INFORMATION:
- 2 year degree from a Junior or Community College.
- Bachelor’s degree preferred in Engineering, Management Operations or Geology.
- 2 years of underground mining experience or 3-5 years of supervisory experience.
