Source Medical is currently seeking a Quality Assurance (QA) Analyst for its Surgery Division in Birmingham, AL.


Summary of Position:

As a Quality Assurance (QA) Analyst, you will be a key member of the Source Medical QA and Testing team with the overall responsibility for assuring that the Surgery product meets the company's quality standards. As an individual contributor in this role, you will be responsible for validating and verifying Source Medical applications, both in manual and automated test environments, through demonstrable application of solid QA methodologies and other applicable knowledge.

To be successful in this role, you will need to demonstrate strong analytical and problem solving skills as well as demonstrate attention to reporting accuracy.


Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

1. Derive testing requirements for the functional area specified

2. Work closely with Technical Team and Product Management to ensure that all deliverables meet functional specifications

3. Test and evaluate early releases to provide feedback to engineers developing the product.

4. Write and refine test plans

5. Report to management on the status of testing and releases

6. Direct the overall strategy of the compliance evaluation system

7. Other duties as assigned by supervisor



Education/Qualifications:

--BA/BS degree in Computer Science with 3+ years of demonstrated QA and testing experience

--Automated test experience

--Test case development experience

--Test tool experience (QTP, Mercury, etc.)

--Understanding of databases

--Some technical experience (hardware and software)

--Good knowledge of basic test techniques (positive/negative testing, interface testing, database testing, etc.)

--Basic knowledge of test phases (integration/functional, regression, system)

--Understanding of basic software development life cycle and the concept of quality before design (QA isn’t just test execution)

--Experience with .NET based software products

--Effective interpersonal skills (presentation, written and oral) and the ability to communicate effectively within a variety of staff levels

--Relevant healthcare knowledge preferred
