Sr Systems Engineer II
Innovative technologies. Superior solutions. Outstanding opportunities.
Raytheon aspires to be the most admired defense and aerospace systems supplier through world-class people and technology. Headquartered in Waltham, MA, Raytheon employs 80,000 people world-wide and generated $21.9 billion in 2005 sales.
Integrated Defense Systems (IDS) is Raytheon's leader in mission systems integration. With a strong international and domestic customer base, including the U.S. Missile Defense Agency and the U.S. armed forces, IDS provides integrated air and missile defense and naval and maritime war fighting solutions. Headquartered in Tewksbury, MA, IDS employs 13,000 people worldwide and generated $3.8 billion in 2005 revenue.
Bring your talent and skills to the
Systems Architecture Design and Integration Directorate (SADID). SADID is the central focus for Mission Systems Integration activities within IDS. More than 1000 employees of SADID provide requirement definition and design at the system, subsystem and component level. Supporting these activities is modeling and simulation, system effectiveness and operational analysis, radar systems design, algorithm development, tracking and discrimination.
This assignment is for work at the
Team Innovation in Integration (TI3), LLC Joint Partnership facility in Huntsville, AL . The location is co-resident with our joint partner, Lockheed Martin, and Government customer, the Integrated Air and Missile Defense (IAMD) Program Office. Working under the guidance of a lead systems engineer, the IAMD) / System of Systems (SoS) system engineering team will perform the following system engineering functions
- Investigate feasible system architecture models and determine the optimum system architecture based on cost, performance, schedule, risk, etc.
- Define specific system functions required to meet the system mission requirements.
- Allocate system functions to subsystems in an optimum way, as determined by system modeling and simulations.
- Determine subsystem requirements appropriate to the respective subsystem functions.
- Resolve problems regarding system/subsystem interfaces and interactions in an overall optimum way.
- Document studies, analyses, findings, and recommendations with engineering reports and presentations as appropriate.
- Present system engineering team methodology, findings, recommendations, etc. to higher management and to Government customers.
This position is for a systems engineer to participate on a systems engineering team which will define the IAMD/SoS architecture and requirements. Specific duties will include:
- Determine specific functional requirements for IAMD/SoS system to meet broadly stated mission requirements.
- Allocate system requirements to subsystems to optimize performance against mission requirements.
- Develop interface specifications.
- Support development of models and simulations to quantify system performance against mission requirements.
- Participate in joint working groups to define joint track management and track processing requirements.
- Analyze alternate system architectures and define relative merits and performance of each alternate system relative to requirements.
- Define functional requirements for components of the IAMD/SoS system.
