SW/HW Programer Developer

JOB DESCRIPTION : Under general supervision, convert specifications, requirements, and procedures to logical flow charts for coding in a programming language. Develop and write computer programs to store, locate, and retrieve specific documents, data, and information. May program web server, services, and websites.

 

Using logic and reasoning to identify strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems determining cause of operating error(s) and deciding what to do about them, both in the development lab environment and with end-users. May compile and write documentation, such as end user’s manuals, of program development and usage. Conduct trial installs and operations of programs to ensure desired information is obtained and that the instructions are correct. Consult with managerial, engineering, and technical personnel to clarify program intent, identify problems, and suggest changes. Perform revision, repair, or expansion of existing programs to adapt to new requirements.

 

The applicant must be professional, versatile, and be able to communicate well, both verbally and in writing: to follow instructions in a fast paced environment; be able to act on general instructions and own initiative; able to work independently with minimal supervision and guidance; must be capable of multi-tasking and responding to time-critical tasks.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor’s degree in Software/Programming or in related technical field (Computer Science, Engineering, or Mathematics) is required.  Associate's degree in related technical field (Computer Science, Engineering, or Mathematics) plus a minimum of two years experience is an acceptable substitution for Bachelor's degree.  Candidates without degrees are suitable if substituting a minimum of six years of directly related experience in software programming.  Programming skills working in a development environment that includes Visual Basic .NET is required.  Familiarity with software documentation, Visual SourceSafe, ADO.NET, and HTML help file development will be considered.  Experience with 3D Modeling & Programming and Modeling & Simulation is a plus.  Candidate must have a valid driver’s license with an insurable driving record.  Candidate selected will be subject to a Government security investigation and must be granted an Interim Security.
