BUSINESS SYSTEMS ANALYST SR

Under minimal supervision, formulates and defines systems scope and objectives. Conducts business process analyses, needs assessments, and preliminary cost/benefit analyses in an effort to align information technology solutions with business initiatives.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
• Understands the business areas supported to determine specific business requirements.
Supports multiple business areas.
• Works with user management and may conduct studies pertaining to the development of new information systems to meet current and projected complex business needs.
• May lead one or more medium sized and complex projects which may entail monitoring the work of internal IT professionals, as well as external IT professionals.
• Writes descriptions of user needs, program functions, and steps required to develop or modify systems.
• Analyzes user requirements, procedures, and problems to improve or create complex systems.
• Prepares functional, system, and program specifications.
• Prepares proposals and recommendations for management and/or users.
• Prepares project-phase plans and implementation schedules, plans and conducts meetings and workshops relative to these project plans, and communicates project status reporting to all levels of management.
• Develops business relationships and integrates activities with other IT business units/areas to ensure successful implementation and support of project efforts.
• Creates work plans for others and is expected to meet budget and schedule commitments.
• Analyzes processes to support both non-computerized and computerized work-flow, including recommending technologies that can enhance the effectiveness of the process.
• Provides technical leadership and/or business expertise on complex projects by evaluating and recommending appropriate development tools.
• Develops procedures to solve problems considering computer equipment capacity and limitations, operation time, and form of desired results.
• Acts as a liaison with other departments, divisions, and organizations.
• Must maintain satisfactory attendance, to include timeliness.
• Responsible for understanding and complying with applicable quality, environmental and safety regulatory considerations.
• If accountable for the work of others, responsible for ensuring their understanding and compliance.

• May train junior level personnel in technical complexities of assigned work.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) in Computer Science, Business Administration, MIS, Mathematics, or Engineering from four-year college or university, plus 3 to 5 years of experience; or equivalent combination of education and/or experience.

SKILLS
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. 
• Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. 
• Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format. 
• Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.
• Computer skill requirements include: Intermediate MS Word, MS Excel, MS Access and MS PowerPoint.
• Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts such as exponents, logarithms, quadratic equations, and permutations.
• Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory, and factor analysis.
• Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
• Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
• Ability to effectively present ideas to executive management via discussions and/or presentations.
• Ability to influence others.
• Ability to resolve conflict as well as manage customer expectations.
• Must possess appreciable latitude for unreviewed action or decision.
• Must possess solid management skills and a working knowledge of project management tools.
• Possesses and applies broad knowledge of principles, practices, and procedures in this field of specialization.

Additional Information
The Senior Business Analyst will act as a liaison between Information Services, the Marketing Department and various external Web Development agencies. This person will play an integral role in helping to develop, implement and execute against an IS-Marketing brand website strategy. Key functional responsibilities include Marketing brand website support for each of the Business Unit Teams, contract documentation of web development projects, facilitating the contract review process for website related projects and project management. This opportunity involves working closely with members of the Gallo Marketing Department to understand business process, help assess website needs, document requirements, manage website development projects, and represent the Marketing Department's IT needs to others in IS and to external Web Development agencies. The Sr. Business Analyst will also work with programmers, database administrators, technical architects, and other IS personnel to select and purchase or develop and implement software to meet business need. The Sr. Business Analyst will be expected to take a key ownership role on multiple projects, acting both in a project manager and an analyst capacity. This role requires the application of critical thinking skills to understand, propose solutions to, and be prepared to explain recommendations that solve complex business problems. This individual should be willing to work independently with minimal direction, be able to manage multiple projects at once, be flexible with project responsibilities, and be seeking opportunities for career growth. Strong project management, oral/written communication, and analysis/documentation skills are essential. Experience with requirements gathering and analysis, systems design, database design, and systems implementation are a must. Previous exposure to Marketing and Sales business functions is very beneficial. Proficiency with web technologies, such as HTML, JavaScript, web design, website usability and website administration is required. Experience using Macromedia Flash. Knowledge of XML, Active Server Pages or .Net web technologies. Must have the ability to discuss and recommend appropriate web technologies.
