Maintenance Technician

We have an opportunity available for a Maintenance Technician at our Montgomery, AL facility.

OVERVIEW:
The Maintenance Technician serves to ensure the production floor is provided with capable, properly working equipment allowing the performance of required production tasks. Equipment should be sufficiently maintained to eliminate non-scheduled delays in production.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Perform preventative/predictive maintenance on all equipment
• Ensure equipment is running to proper specifications
• Assist with the installation of new plant equipment.
• Perform emergency and nonstandard repairs of equipment and facility
• Ensure strict concordance to required health and safety standards
• Immediately lockout any dangerous activity or equipment that is posing a safety threat
• Ensure that all equipment is operating in accordance with OSHA standards.
• Ensure that all fire fighting equipment is properly maintained in accordance with federal, State and Local Fire Codes.
• Maintain excellent housekeeping at all times
• Support production schedule and the set up of assembly lines
• Participate in the day-to-day working of the plant.
• Perpetuate a positive attitude and punctuality throughout the facility.
• Must be capable of working the required overtime and during plant shutdown periods including holiday periods.
• Knowledge of OSHA and EPA standards as they relate to the duties of a maintenance technician.
• Actively serve on plant committees and attend required plant meetings and training when required.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
• Constant standing, bending, lifting, climbing and stooping
• Occasional handling of materials weighing up to 75 lbs.
• Periodic driving of a fork-lift or man-lift and JLG to move materials throughout the plant, oil house, and surrounding area
• Understand electrical, physical, and pneumatic properties of equipment (e.g. voltage, torque, air and water pressure, and current) in both metric and English measurements
• Read and understand wiring diagrams, computer schematics/logic, and Programmable Logic Controls (Allen Bradley)
• Handle the demand of identifying and repairing down equipment in a minimum amount of time.
• Operate production in the operation of production equipment when requested.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
• A minimum of five years experience maintaining industrial equipment.
• Journeyman certification is a plus.
• An Associate Degree in Industrial Maintenance is highly desired.
• Must be knowledgeable in troubleshooting Allen Bradley PLC’s.
• Ability to run electrical wiring and other energy sources throughout the facility.
• Also required is knowledge of hydraulics and pneumatics.
• The maintenance technician must provide their own basic tools for performing their job. Special tools will be provided by the company.
