 Position: HIGH SCHOOL PLANT FOREMAN    Unrestricted

 

 

 Salary: $2,941 - $3,983 mo.

 

(Range39S)     Hours: 8 hrs daily/full year

  (6:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.)

  Specifics: 

 

High school graduate or equivalent required. Must complete pre-employment preparation & assessment workshop, workshop scores to be included with application. Bilingual Spanish preferred. Under general supervision, to plan & train the work of custodial and grounds personnel.  Positions in this class have primary responsibility for directing the day-to-day maintenance of a high school plant, grounds keeping, swimming pool maintenance and minor building maintenance activities.  Persons chosen for positions in this class will be selected on their capacity to plan, organize and supervise the work of others.  Experience in each of the areas supervised is not a pre-employment requirement of the job, but the incumbents are expected to become well versed in each of the areas.  Performs heavy physical labor.  The position requires knowledge of: requirements for maintaining school buildings, swimming pool facilities and grounds in a safe, clean and orderly condition; basic landscaping including the use of herbicides and insecticides; methods, materials and equipment utilized in custodian and maintenance functions and activities at a large high school plant; principles for organizing, supervising and training personnel; operating principles of heating, ventilation, air conditioning and water systems; appropriate safety precautions and procedures; basic mathematics; simple record keeping including the use of a computer.  Must have three (3) years of experience in maintaining a large high school facility, including one (1) year in a lead or supervisory capacity, or experience at or equivalent to experience as a Lead Custodian in the Salinas Union High School District in which the incumbent has acquired the knowledge and abilities listed in the job description.  See job description for further specifics.
