JOB SUMMARY

Shift support of Chemistry programs.

Please note, these position have a projected start date in January 2007.

JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

This position is responsible for monitoring the chemical, radiological effluents and environmental programs at Farley Nuclear Plant. This monitoring includes preparation and analysis of samples from various plant water systems using atomic absorption spectroscopy, ion chromatography, inline instrumentation (pH, conductivity, sodium, hydrazine) and radiological counting of samples using a multi channel analyzer.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Education Requirements:

BS in Chemistry preferred

Experience Requirements:

*
Working knowledge of the use of analytical equipment used in analysis of samples.
*
One year (2000 hours minimum) of experience in a laboratory environment.
*
Basic knowledge of chemistry applications related to preparation and analysis of water samples.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

Must understand the importance of procedure adherence.
*
Must be assertive.
*
Must possess good written and oral communication skills.
*
Attention to detail is critical to all work performed.
*
Cooperative attitude necessary to provide service to other plant groups.

Computer skills - working knowledge of company software including MS Excel and MS Word.

Overtime, weekend and shift work required.
