Consumer Credit Support Team Leader

The proposed merger with Golden West Financial Corporation (NYSE: GDW), parent of World Savings Bank, is expected to close in the fourth quarter of 2006, pending shareholder and regulatory approval. With this proposed merger, Wachovia would strengthen its position in California, Texas, Florida, New Jersey and New York, and enter attractive metropolitan areas in five additional states: Arizona, Colorado, Illinois, Kansas and Nevada. The combined company would serve banking customers through 3,400 offices in 21 states and Washington, D.C. In addition, Wachovia would gain mortgage lending operations under the World Savings Bank name in 39 states.
Requirements:
Using your thorough a thorough understanding of relevant federal, state, and banking regulations, you will lead a team of 10-12 Consumer Credit Decisioners responsible for reviewing and approving consumer related real estate loans. This includes maintaining strong industry knowledge on retail lending, underwriting, risk and compliance; meeting quarterly with Market Leaders, team members and other partners to review market performance to ensure delivery of consistent sales and service approach; and motivating, leading, developing and coaching Senior Decisioners and Decisioners in a world-class environment to ensure individual performance meets or exceed expectations around underwriting goals. You will also directly manage all Human Resources processes for all direct reports (appraisals, disciplinary actions, individual development plan, career development, training and interviews) and use Individual Development Plan process to set objectives, create action plans and monitor progress.
Five plus years’ recent retail lending management experience is required, as well as industry experience, retail lending and leadership experience. You must have the proven ability to lead, train, motivate and develop employees; strong project management skills; and the ability to handle multiple projects at one time. College degree desired.
