Graphic Designer

The senior designer reports directly to the art director and is responsible for helping the art director execute the editorial vision of the magazine. Exceptional design skills, attention to detail and willingness to “think outside the box” are essential to the role of the senior designer. The senior designer must also demonstrate leadership, a spirit of teamwork and the ability to take direction.

 

The senior designer is responsible for working with the art director to produce special sections, as well as providing support on special projects and overseeing the duties assigned to graphic designers and other production staff, including the production of ads and scheduling of photography.

 

Specific duties and responsibilities include:

• Assisting in the supervision and on-going training of graphic designers, production assistants and production interns.

• Working with the creative team to conceptualize editorial content.

• Overseeing the scheduling of photo shoots for editorial.

• Assisting with the styling of photo shoots for editorial.

• Reviewing ad files executed by graphic designers.

• Working on advertising designs.

• Monitoring ad materials for quality, in conjunction with the art director and ad coordinator.

• Reviewing layouts and proofs for technical accuracy.

• Overseeing the completion of special projects assigned to graphic designers and other production staff.

• Fulfilling additional responsibilities as assigned by the art director.

• Attending functions to promote the magazine and strengthen the brand.
