Quality Control Inspector - Phoenix, Arizona

CSDA has an immediate opportunity for a Quality Control Inspector in our Phoenix office who will be responsible for the assessment of dwelling structures that are in the preliminary design stage of sound insulation treatment. The Inspector will exercise considerable independent judgment and initiative while conducting surveys in the field and leading and guiding the survey support team members.
The ideal candidate must have a solid understanding of building, housing, and zoning codes and be able to apply them in assessment. Candidate must also be able to evaluate the physical status of structures for application of sound insulating products.
Responsibilities:
o Inspect residential dwelling units for structural, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, and other code deficiencies that would prohibit the installation of sound reduction and ventilation products;
o Direct, review and/or assist in the preparation of as-built drawings;
o Identify and specify methods of correction to resolve obstructions or issues that will impact the installation of the sound reduction and ventilation process;
o Initiate and finalize the design of the treatment package with the owner;
o Provide the owner technical assistance in the selection of acoustical products;
o Review plans and final design with owner, and
o Demonstrate continuous effort to improve operations, decrease turnaround times, streamline work process and work cooperatively and jointly to improve quality and deliver seamless customer service.
Knowledge Required:
o Solid knowledge of building, zoning, and property rehabilitation standards;
o Familiarity with existing structural architecture;
o Knowledge of various building materials and their limits, uses, and applications;
o Solid knowledge of the construction industry and inspection techniques, and
o Familiar with installation of retrofit windows.
Skills Required:
o Must be able to prepare, interpret, and understand plans and specifications;
o Work cooperatively with owners, city employees, and occupants often under difficult circumstances;
o Prepare project priority lists for jobs as assigned;
o Communicate effectively in person with clients or the public;
o Use graphic instructions during presentations such as blueprints and other visual aids;
o Produce written documents with clear and organized thoughts;
o Enter data into PC or other key board device while in field;
o Work independently, and
o Bilingual in Spanish preferred.
Physical Requirements:
o Must be able to climb ladders or steps to reach objects in the field;
o Must be physically capable of safely operating a motor vehicle, and
o Must hold a valid driver’s license and an acceptable driving record.
