Purchasing - Procurement Management

DESCRIPTION

Shimadzu Precision Instruments, Inc. is a subsidiary of Shimadzu Corporation in Japan. We are currently seeking a Procurement Supervisor to join our team in our Torrance, CA office. This person will report directly to the Procurement Manager.

Duties and Responsibilities
• Supports the department manager with status tracking, analysis, reporting and supervising department staff of 4 to 5 members
• Negotiates delivery of ordered products (expedite)
• Follow/Track status of purchased products
• Identify and address scheduling issues
• Analysis of procurement activities
• Independently composes reports on critical delivery problems
• Performs related duties as assigned
• Data entry and filing as required
• Assist department manager with handling discrepant products

 

 REQUIREMENTS

Knowledge
• Ability to multi-task
• Able to supervise existing staff while contributing to department goals and workload
• Posses excellent interpersonal and supervisory skills
• Good planning, coordinating and organizational skills
• Ability to communicate with all levels of company personnel
• Excellent written and spoken communication skills required for coordination with outside organizations.
• Experience with computerized inventory control system
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Applications
• Experience in the Aircraft or Aerospace Industry is required

Additional
• Japanese-English bilingual skills required
• Technical knowledge of mechanical systems would be helpful but is not required.
• Prefer experience with aerospace, aircraft, and/or exporting.

Education
• Bachelor’s degree is preferred but not required if education is supplemented with appropriate work experience
