Duty Manager/Ground Operations

Position Description 

 

Responsible for the efficient use of resources to ensure operational performance, which maximizes customer service at the lowest cost. Ensure enforcement of all company and departmental procedures, including safety and security. Develop employees. Implement methods of maximizing revenue and controlling expenses. Oversee day-to-day ramp operations. Solicit ideas and/or feedback from employees and accept accountability for follow-through. Assist the director in monitoring monthly expenses. Communicate procedural changes to supervisors and employees and ensure compliance. Act as the communication liaison between front-line employees and station management. Monitor department's on-time performance. Identify areas/individuals which require improvement; develop and implement methods to increase/improve performance. Develop positive working relationships with vendors, ensuring all parties perform their responsibilities properly. Ensure all internal audit requirements are followed and accept accountability for compliance. Review staffing requirements and schedule for all department employees, making adjustments as necessary. Act as local representative for customer relations. Interpret the company's policies in a professional and positive manner to all customers and handle customer compensation issues when warranted. Conduct interviews and make selections for supervisory positions. Aid/guide the development of supervisory staff.

 

Position Requirements

Undergraduate degree or equivalent experience/training
5 years airline operations experience
Fundamental knowledge of US Airways policies, procedures,

and administrative guidelines
Excellent customer service skills
Excellent supervisory and leadership abilities
Ability to appropriately prioritize tasks and handle multiple projects simultaneously
Ability to motivate and develop employees (including giving critical feedback, when necessary)
Ability to monitor performance levels (e.g., on-time performance, staffing levels, budget issues)
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Able to work varied hours, including weekends and evenings
Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel
Ability to multi-task and shift priorities to meet deadlines in a fast-paced, ever-changing work environment.
