RESEARCH ASSISTANT

 

Reiter Affiliated Companies, an International Berry Company is seeking a dynamic individual to join our Research and Development team.  We currently have a career opportunity available for a Research Assistant in our Watsonville, California office.  We offer a competitive salary/bonus and benefit package.

 

POSITION PURPOSE:

 

This position will be responsible for conducting applied research activities in strawberry and raspberry crops.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

Conduct and apply research activities in strawberry and raspberry fields. Must be knowledgeable with production agriculture, preferably berry crops and have a general understanding of research methods and techniques. Responsibilities will include setting up test plots, planning and analysis, in addition to collecting and analyzing soil and water samples. Present applied research data to Executives as well as growers. There is some travel required.

 

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

 

Familiar with production agriculture

Knowledge of research techniques

Knowledge in test plot set up, data collection and data analysis

Proficient in Excel and Word

Excellent organizational skills and record keeping skills

Must have the ability to read, analyze and interpret statistical reports.

Strong communication skills

Excellent mathematical skills

Fluent in Spanish

 

EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE

 

Bachelors Degree, Crop Science or other related field2-5 years of applied research experience
