Nemours Mansion- Gardener I Full Time

Nemours owns and operates the Alfred I. duPont Hospital for Children in Wilmington, DE, as well as four major Children's specialty centers in Wilmington, Jacksonville, Orlando, and Pensacola.

The Alfred I. duPont Hospital for Children, with a long-established and excellent reputation in pediatric health care, draws a broadly diverse patient population. The hospital, supported in part through an endowment from the Nemours Foundation, continues to grow both regionally and nationally and is the tertiary care center for pediatrics within the Jefferson Health System.


The Nemours Mansion, located on the Nemours estate, is seeking the right candidate for a Gardener I position. The schedule for this position will be a 40 hour work week.



PRIMARY FUNCTION


Maintain and improve the gardens by performing all pertinent maintenance practices






ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES


Operate equipment and vehicles
Bedding area preparations, i.e. roto-tilling etc.
Weed and clean bedding areas
Water as needed
Mulch
Planting seasonal flowers
Planting woody plant materials
Transplant woody plant materials
Mowing
Hedge Shearing
Pruning evergreen and deciduous shrubs and flowering trees, shaping and dead wooding
Snow and ice control
Responsible for participating in departmental and Foundation programs for quality assessment and improvement.
Work with department management to improve services provided.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS


I. Education, Training and Experience


High school or equivalent preferred
Minimum of three years experience maintaining formal gardens


II. Licenses, Registrations or Certifications


1.Valid drivers license

D. Environmental Conditions



Included but not limited to outdoors, indoors, large open spaces, near or on moving machinery, wet, dry, hot, cold, and slippery surfaces

Must be able to work a flexible schedule

Must have reliable transportation
