DUCOMMUN TECHNOLOGIES, INC. is a leading electronic components and custom engineered subsystems manufacturer serving the aircraft, ATE, space, and telecommunications markets.

 

JOB SUMMARY:  Under general supervision of the Supply Chain Manager, performs purchasing duties of broad scope and authority.  Acquires materials and services required for production operations and facilities upon analysis of requirements data or receipt of approved purchasing requisition.  Is responsible for the more complex and difficult commodities and the most challenging supplier relationships.  Coordinates procurement activities with other departments to support their needs and minimize inventory.  Compiles industry information to determine and develop long term agreements (LTAs) to meet requirements at lowest total cost.  Reviews performance with suppliers, recommends sources of supply and negotiates prices.  Provides cost input for the bid and proposal process and make buy decisions.

 

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:   (Essential functions of the position, not an exhaustive list): Reviews requirements data and requisitions to procure materials for the company including direct materials and MRO materials.  Requests and evaluates quotes as necessary and selects approved sources.  Negotiates with suppliers as necessary on new purchases or changes to existing purchase orders.  Responsible for ensuring that open purchase orders are complete and accurate at all times reflecting accurate requirements, terms and conditions, quality clauses an in compliance with company regulations.Coordinates, conducts and participates in discussions between suppliers or supplier representatives concerning price, delivery or quality negotiations or other subjects including value engineering analysis, new methods or new processes.  Manage delivery schedules and inventory levels to maintain production schedules and maximize inventory turns.Understands and follows all policies governing both commercial and military procurement and insures all requirements are met.Insure suppliers are maintaining acceptable levels of price, quality and delivery performance.Provide analysis and takes appropriate action to incorporate engineering changes.Participates in meetings with production, engineering and quality to identify and resolve issues, establish appropriate processes and eliminate waste.Demonstrate appropriate leadership by professionally resolving both internal and external problems in a fair and ethical manner.Provide quote information to support the bid and proposal process as required for costing new programs.Provide data and analysis for make/buy decisions.Participate in process improvement and other team oriented projects.

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:  Bachelors degree in Supply Chain Mgmt., Business or related area or equivalent experience

Experience: Eight years direct procurement experience

 

EXPERIENCE/TRAINING/EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION:

Professional Certifications:  ISM or APICS certification desirable

 

KNOWLEDGE/ABILITIES/SKILLS/TOOLS:  Knowledge of Federal (FAR/DFAR) regulationsComputer Skills, Microsoft OfficeERP system experience (Visual Manufacturing preferred)Communication skills, both written and verbalNegotiation skillsAbility to read and interpret blueprints or mechanical drawings
