Principal Engineer - FTF Lead

Minimum Qualifications/Education/Experience (or equivalent combination of experience and education):
A Bachelors Degree (BA/BS) in Computer Science, Engineering, Math, Physics or equivalent experience is required. Eight years of related experience is required. Two years of supervisory experience is required. Candidate must be a US Citizen and must have a DOD Secret clearance or the ability to acquire and maintain a DOD Secret level clearance.

Skills Needed: Skills shall include managing and supporting engineering efforts for the FTF program. Candidate shall be capable of working independently, demonstrate effective management skills in working with multi-task assignments, interfacing with various engineering disciplines, and possess excellent communication skills.

Duties Specific to the Position:
The FTF Chief Engineer will have lead technical responsibility for Orbital and our subcontractors (a0 design and analysis of the 52 inch front end and Castor 4B, SR19 and [optionally] SR19/SR19 booster systems and (b) ongoing 72 inch production engineering and analysis oversight. Responsibilities also include similar scope for mechanical support equipment [which largely consists of modifications to designs already completed for the FTF Trident 72 inch launch vehicle] and the air launch systems [extraction/descent parachutes are already at CDR level but the carriages require design (Coleman Aerospace) and analysis (Orbital.) Analysis tasks include trajectory analysis oversight, structural loads, coupled loads, thermal [aeroheating and internal temperature management], environmental predictions and aerodynamics. Responsibilities will include monitoring/coordinating the afore-mentioned work and communicating plans and status with Lockheed and the MDA customer. The Chief Engineer will organizationally be Deputy to the FTF Program Engineering Managers. Travel will be required to our customer and subcontractor facilities. Other duties as required.
