Position Summary:

Under direct supervision will perform minor setups and operate machine shop equipment, while gaining the training, knowledgend experience required for promotion to precision machinist.

 

Duties and Responsibilities: Receive training in set-up and operation of the following machine shop equipmentDrill press, Manual Mills, Lathes, CNC Mills and machine shop support equipmentLearns departmental procedures, blueprint reading, DNC computer system, first piece inspection and other machine shop dutiesReceives verification from supervisor, shift lead person or Sr. Operator on all machine shop dutiesAttends company-sponsored training classesResponsible to keep work area and machines clean

 

Requirements:

 

§ Must be able to perform basic machine shop duties satisfactorily on a daily basis

§ Vocational trade school certificate or 1 year machine shop related experience

§ Blueprint reading, use of inspection tools, set-up and operation of machine shop equipment

§ DNC computer system, tools sheets, tool presetting and departmental procedures

§ Knowledge in machine set-up and operation, blueprint reading, inspection tools, machine shop support equipment and must be willing to learn

§ Must be able to read and comprehend OS, work instructions, setup sheets, tool sheets and other machine shop related material

§ Basic machinist tools required
